About Me
Dr. Kamara is a Board-Certified Psychiatric and Family Nurse Practitioner and has vast experience working with individuals of all ages, across the lifespan. Her career in the healthcare field started over 18 years ago. She started her nursing career as a Nursing Assistant and over the years advanced to become a Registered Nurse, and then went on to acquire her Doctorate in Nursing Practice with a focus in Family Medicine and Psychiatry. She has many years of experience in various clinical settings such as nursing homes, home health care, cardiac telemetry, surgical trauma, the emergency department, critical care, residential behavioral health, and outpatient psychiatry.
For Dr. Kamara, being a Psychiatric and Family Nurse Practitioner is more than assessing, diagnosing, and prescribing treatments for her patients; it is about truly understanding the various aspects of her patients' lives that can affect their physical and mental health, and this can only be done through active listening. She truly believes that one's mental health and physical health are equally important. Dr. Kamara's goal is to work alongside her patients in creating a treatment plan that promotes and enhances their physical and mental health, thereby increasing their ability to function at their maximum capacity.

My Approach to Therapy
We understand the importance of accurate assessment and diagnosis, and this is completed through a thorough evaluation of the patient's medical and psychiatric history. This also includes ordering baseline labs to rule out potential medical causes of the patient's symptoms. If and when appropriate, we also complete GeneSight testing, which assists in identifying medications that work best for the patient. We provide close and ongoing monitoring throughout. We also provide basic supportive therapy and collaborate with the patient's care team, which enhances patient outcomes.
What It's Like to Work Together
We provide safe, calm, and supportive care in which patients feel heard and involved in their care plan.
