What is Psychosis Treatment?
Psychosis treatment is what helps the mind feel clear and grounded again when thoughts, senses, or beliefs have started to feel confusing or frightening. You are not alone. Psychosis is a symptom, not a character flaw, and it responds to care. For most people, treatment means medication management, paired with support and matched to what they are experiencing.
Early, coordinated treatment is associated with better outcomes, so we work closely with you and with family or other providers when you want that, to support recovery over time.
Care is led by Dr. Aminata Kamara, a board-certified psychiatric and family nurse practitioner (PMHNP), alongside our clinical team.

Does this sound like you?
Psychosis is more than losing touch with reality. Day to day, it can feel like:
You experience hallucinations, such as hearing or seeing things others do not
You hold delusions, or fixed beliefs that are not shared by those around you
Your thinking or speech has become disorganized or hard to follow
You have trouble distinguishing what is real
You have withdrawn socially and lost motivation

What Psychosis Can Involve
Hallucinations
Hearing, seeing, or sensing things that are not there, which can feel vivid and real.
Delusions
Strongly held beliefs that feel true to you but are not shared by others.
Disorganized thinking
Thoughts and speech that feel scattered, jumbled, or challenging to follow.
First-episode psychosis
A first experience of these symptoms, where early support can make a real difference.
Psychosis with another condition
When psychosis occurs alongside depression, bipolar, or another condition, it needs a plan that treats both.
How We Approach Your Care
We start by understanding you
We take time to understand what you are experiencing, when it started, and what feels most distressing, at a pace that feels safe.
We explain what we find
We focus first on safety and on easing the most distressing symptoms, so the world feels clearer and steadier.
We find the right medication
Finding the right medication takes careful tuning to balance benefit and side effects, so we adjust based on how you respond.
We pair medication with support
Medication can decrease the symptoms, and we coordinate with your therapist and, when you want, your family.
We stay with you
Recovery takes time and steady support, so we keep checking in and adjusting as you regain your footing.
As part of a thorough evaluation, we order baseline labs to help rule out other medical causes for your symptoms

We're a good fit for you, if:
You're an adult, teen, or child (age 5 and up) experiencing symptoms of psychosis
Hallucinations, delusions, or confused thinking are disrupting daily life
You or a loved one is facing a first episode and wants early support

Psychosis Treatment FAQs
How is psychosis treated by a psychiatric provider?
Psychosis treatment usually centers on medication management, often with an antipsychotic, paired with coordinated support. We assess what you are experiencing and build a plan tailored to you, adjusting as needed.
Is psychosis treatable?
Yes. Many people recover or manage symptoms well, especially when support starts early. Treatment is tailored to what you are experiencing and adjusted over time.
What if past medications haven't worked?
That's common. The right plan is often a matter of fit. We monitor closely, adjust as needed, and can use pharmacogenomic (GeneSight) testing to help guide medication choice.
Can I get psychosis treatment online in North Dakota or Minnesota?
Yes. We provide treatment and medication management in person in Fargo and online anywhere in North Dakota and Minnesota. For some situations, an in-person visit may be recommended.
Does insurance cover psychosis treatment?
We accept most major insurance plans across North Dakota and Minnesota, along with self-pay.
