Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Treatment

In-person in Fargo - Online across ND and MN

Medication management and support for children, teens, and adults caught in the cycle of intrusive thoughts and compulsions.

What is OCD Treatment?

OCD treatment is a structured way of loosening the grip of intrusive thoughts and the compulsions that follow them. Many people reach us after years of rituals that eat up their time, like checking the door over and over or washing until their hands hurt.

Our team takes the time to understand how OCD shows up for you, so the plan we build, whether that's medication management, coordination with exposure-based therapy, or both, fits your life rather than a generic protocol.

Care is led by Dr. Aminata Kamara, a board-certified psychiatric and family nurse practitioner (PMHNP), alongside our clinical team.

Does this sound like you?

OCD wears many themes. Maybe a few of these feel familiar:

  • Intrusive, unwanted thoughts show up and cause real distress

  • It takes you forever to leave the house because you keep checking the door

  • You wash your hands so much that they hurt

  • You feel driven to count, repeat, arrange, or check until it feels just right

  • The rituals eat up hours and pull you away from the things that matter

How We Approach Your Care

We start by understanding you

We take time to learn which themes and rituals affect you most, and what you have already tried.

We explain what we find

We target what is costing you most, whether that is the checking, the washing, or the intrusive thoughts.

We find the right medication

OCD medications often take time and a higher dose to work, so we adjust patiently rather than rush.

We pair medication with therapy

Medication and exposure-based therapy work best together, and we coordinate with your therapist.

We stay with you

OCD can wax and wane, so we keep checking in and adjusting as your symptoms shift.

As part of a thorough evaluation, we order baseline labs to help rule out other medical causes for your symptoms

OCD Treatment FAQs

How is OCD treated by a psychiatric provider?

OCD treatment usually combines medication management with behavioral strategies. We assess your symptoms, identify the themes and rituals affecting you, and build a plan tailored to you, adjusting as needed.

Do you work alongside exposure therapy?

Yes. Many people do best when medication and exposure-based therapy support each other, and we can coordinate care with your therapist.

What if past medications haven't worked?

That's common. The right plan is often a matter of fit. We monitor closely, adjust as needed, and can use pharmacogenomic (GeneSight) testing to help guide medication choice.

Can I get OCD treatment online in North Dakota or Minnesota?

Does insurance cover OCD treatment?

We accept most major insurance plans across North Dakota and Minnesota, along with self-pay.
